Mojo Road Trip 2024 Day 6 June 8, 2024 - Alpacas to Appomattox
Hello fabulous followers! Today was a quiet, restful day gearing up for a longer road trip tomorrow. We slept in, did laundry and got to meet alpacas.
Whether you are in the Farmville area or not, check out Bright Eyes Alpaca Retreat on Facebook. A great couple raises these cute animals and provide college students with jobs to assist the farm and provides opportunities for young children and young at heart to meet and understand these animals. They also have alpaca wool items for sale.
Joe and I got to meet and feed the alpacas. I was a little nervous at first, but they are gentle creatures.
In the afternoon we visited Appomattox. This is the site at the McLean house where Lee surrendered to Grant. I thought about hearing stories from my grandmother of past relatives that fought in the Civil War and did not return home. Some never had the chance to become a husband or father.
There were reenactments of 1861 showing mustering the troops in a march. Below are pictures from this historical park.
Oh? You are asking about food? Well we ate leftovers, but took a scenic drive back to town for a berry peach cider.
Check out the drive (and the cider).
Tomorrow is at least 6.5 hours of drive time as we head to Intercourse, Pennsylvania to The Inn at Kitchen Kettle. We are going through Skyline Drive.
We pray for safe travels as we head to our next destination. See ya tomorrow.
Blessings!
